Zoe owns a successful wedding planning business, Cherish Weddings, where she works with some high profile clients and shares her experience with students.
“I started Cherish wedding planning in 2008 as a complete career change from teaching. I have 3 daughters and was looking for a job that was more flexible and in complete contrast to teaching dance.
In 2010 I met Kylie (Company director) for a coffee in London as she was looking to expand the UK branch, and I have been working with her and the team ever since.
I still run my own wedding planning business too and I find this helps me to give current advice about the industry and honest answers to student’s queries which I think is important. My philosophy for brides is that they should enjoy the ‘process’ of planning their wedding as much as the day itself.”
Sue set up Eleganza Weddings & Events in 2004 and has gained a reputation for organising successful and well-‐planned weddings. Her key aim was to offer a planning service that puts customers wishes for their wedding day at the forefront of everything she does for them. Top of her list has always been ‘listening to clients’ and ‘exceeding expectations’ mixed with all the romance, all the fun and the anticipation of planning their “special day”.
Prior to forming our Company Sue had many years of managerial experience for a large Corporate Company both in the UK and overseas. Her project management experience coupled with planning, communication and organisational skills experience from previous roles has proved invaluable for wedding day management.
Sue has also had experience in customer service roles, managing client relationships, sales and negotiation and holds various Floristry, Design and advanced Cuisine qualifications. She has found that there are many roles and hats you wear when you are planning a wedding and her broad range of knowledge and experience has certainly helped her.
When she started on the wedding planning career path Sue undertook training both practical and theory in the UK and the US for many aspects of wedding planning which was enjoyable and confirmed her belief that this was the path she wanted to follow!
She is committed to promoting knowledge, professionalism and codes of conduct within the Wedding Industry to students and loves to share this with those who have a passion for entering the professional world of wedding planning. Also, Sue always maintains a personal commitment to ongoing training and keeping up with current trends, ideas and skills.
Sam is the founder of The Wedding Owl, and is an experienced specialist wedding business consultant. She has extensive, practical knowledge of the Wedding Industry, wedding venues, and wedding suppliers and loves helping wedding business grow.
She has worked at award winning wedding venues in senior management roles for over 10 years managing the wedding process from the initial enquiry to closing the sale, to upselling, through to delivering the event on the day. This includes organising food tastings, engagement shoots, wedding shows (both in-house and using external suppliers), invoicing and tactfully chasing couples for payment.
Christine is the Director of Education for the Academy and our lead Tutor. She is involved with all of our campuses and has been with the Academy almost from the beginning. She has helped many students to achieve their goals, including the launching of their own business and takes great pleasure in their success.
Christine is a qualified Journalist with a passion for events, business and sales & marketing and has loved finding a way to use her skills within the wedding and event industry. She has worked as a Corporate Event Manager for a major Bank and a number of community & business organisations and she recently founded the I Do Crew, which specialises in offering On the Day Coordination services and supplying Event Staff. Currently this business operates in Australia and New Zealand only, but Christine has plans to expand overseas. This is great news for Academy Graduates, as Christine only hires our Students and Graduates to work on I Do Crew weddings.
Lisa Macale is the Creative Director and Owner of Brisbane based boutique wedding planning and styling business Willow Tree Creative. She holds a Bachelor of Business and is an Academy Accredited Wedding & Event Planner.
Lisa’s love affair with weddings began after planning and styling her own wedding. She is passionate about helping her couples to have unique and individual weddings and she prides herself on being there for them from the moment they engage her services and on their special day. Lisa has had her work featured in several top international wedding magazines and blogs. She was also named one of the top 25 stylists in Australia by Modern Wedding Magazine.
Her passion extends to supporting others to enter the industry too and she has been offering Academy students and graduates opportunities to learn from her at weddings and events. Having been through the process of starting her own business Lisa has knowledge and real life experience to share with our students. Now Lisa has joined the Academy Tutoring team and will be sharing her creativity and knowledge and skills of weddings, events, styling and business, with more people, by tutoring our Diploma & Certificate courses.
After over 10 years of marketing and event management experience working with multinational brands within the MENA region, Zeina co-founded a wedding and event management business in the UAE, Jive Events. Zeina also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration. Her managerial experience combined with her entrepreneurship spirit and educational background, are key factors in the success of her business and her well-planned events.
Zeina is looking forward to passing the knowledge and skills gained in event management to students at the Arabian campus of Academy.
Lizzie has over 11 years’ experience in the retail, catering and event management industry and prides herself on her background and diversity of knowledge. She has planned, styled and executed celebrations from an intimate 18 to large scales of over 120+ guests. From 5 weeks’ notice to 18 months.
She is the proud owner of Elizabeth Jean Weddings and Events originally established in 2012, but officially launched in Australia in 2014. In mid-2016 she relocated back to her home country of New Zealand and her business now operates in the North Island. Lizzy offers a personal commitment and dedication to all her students and loves sharing her knowledge.
The International Advisory Board for 2016 - 2017 consists of 30 industry experts from around the world who lend their knowledge, and guidance to the Academy. They offer many things to our students including work experience and internship opportunities, mentoring and advice, as well as input into our course curriculum ensuring that the courses offered are off the highest calibre.
